FORT LAUDERDALE – (May 8, 2025) – Fleet Advantage, a leading innovator in specialty financing, fleet data analytics, fleet management services, and life cycle cost management, announced today at the National Private Truck Council’s (NPTC) Annual Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Fla., its latest data resource: Truck Reliability and Usage Safety Tracker (TRUST). This innovative safety index aims to provide benchmarks that address the longstanding issue of safety within the private fleet sector, with private fleet-specific KPIs to help organizations improve areas of specific operations and elevate their overall CSA (Compliance, Safety, Accountability) scores.
Recent statistics underscore the urgency of improving safety measures. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, deaths from large truck crashes were recorded at 5,078, according to the 2023 data. This data shows that fatalities from fatal large truck crashes continue to be on the rise, as these statistics are on par with data from 2022, when there were 5,936 fatal large truck crashes with more than 160,000 injuries. However, according to TRUST, the Unsafe Driving Score average for the top private fleets is 11.5, which is a positive.
The introduction of TRUST by Fleet Advantage is designed to modernize change in today’s safety culture of private fleets. TRUST provides comprehensive benchmarks and insights into safety performance, enabling fleets to identify and address safety issues proactively. To learn more about how TRUST can help fleets achieve these safety goals, NPTC Annual Conference attendees can stop by the Fleet Advantage booth (#225) and speak to its Certified Transportation Professionals (CTPs). TRUST will provide insights into areas including:
- Current and predictive CSA scores
- Inspections
- Violations details including Hours of Service and Vehicle Maintenance
- Crash Indicator Scoring
- Peer group analysis
- Driver fitness
- Unsafe driving trends
In addition to private fleets, the TRUST report will be available for organizations operating in specific industry verticals and for-hire carriers. Furthermore, custom reporting can be made available based on each organization’s needs. NPTC Annual Conference attendees are encouraged to stop by the Fleet Advantage booth (#225) to learn more about the TRUST report and how it can be tailored to support a fleet’s unique operational goals. The full report will be available in early June.
The topic of safety is especially important this year as the NPTC conference finishes ahead of the annual International Roadcheck event (May 13-15), where CVSA-certified inspectors conduct compliance, enforcement, and educational initiatives focused on motor carrier, vehicle, and driver safety. It is the largest targeted enforcement program on commercial motor vehicles globally, with nearly 15 trucks and motorcoaches inspected every minute across North America during the 72-hour period. Since its inception in 1988, over 1.8 million roadside inspections have been conducted. This year’s focus is on tire safety and false records of duty status (RODS). According to TRUST, tire violations account for 44% of private fleet’s ‘Out of Service’ violations for vehicle maintenance and 37.9% for total violations.
“At Fleet Advantage, we understand that having the right mix of fleet safety data and performance benchmarks is important for improving the culture of safety for private fleets,” said Katerina Jones, Chief Marketing Officer of Fleet Advantage. “Our TRUST report provides private fleets with the comprehensive insights and trended data they need to proactively address critical safety issues and to continually set high standards. By incorporating safety into the Total Cost of Ownership and Life Cycle Cost Management, we empower organizations to build and protect a culture where safety is prioritized in every part of their operations, ultimately leading to safer roads, drivers, and more efficient fleets.”
